The perdiz season in Uruguay is the shortest as it only runs from May to July. However it forms part of the high season because it is possible to hunt duck and pigeon as well as perdiz. This is what is technically known as a mixed bag.
The ideal moments to hunt perdiz in Uruguay are: at mid-morning (after the duck shoot) and in the afternoon until sunset, when visibility is reduced. However, the days shooting is normally organised together with the hunters, their guides and the outfitters.
For this style of shooting, perhaps the most picturesque of all, trained dogs are used of various breeds such as English Pointers, Border Collies, Setters, German Pointers and Brittany Spaniels.
Recommended: -bore shotgun.
Season: May to July.
